\u201cHumane meat\u201d is a myth. No matter how appealing the packaging may look, all<\/i> substances taken from animals are the result of exploitation.\u00a0There is simply no kind way to steal animals\u2019 milk, eggs, or flesh. Their bodies belong to them, not us. The overwhelming majority of animal-derived foods\u2014including \u201chumane\u201d meat, eggs, milk, and cheese\u2014come from farms where huge numbers of animals are packed in as tightly as possible to maximize output and profit.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Why \u2018Humane Meat\u2019 Doesn\u2019t Exist<\/h2>\n

Eggs labeled \u201ccage-free\u201d or \u201cfree-range\u201d<\/b> typically come from hens who are confined to mud- and feces-filled pens<\/span><\/a> for most of their lives. There is nothing natural about cheese<\/b> made from the milk of cows who are forcibly<\/span><\/a> impregnated<\/span> so that they\u2019ll lactate. Pigs raised on organic farms<\/b> and those raised on factory farms are transported to the same terrifying slaughterhouses<\/span><\/a>, where some are scalded to death while they\u2019re still conscious. Even small and local farms<\/b> profit from exploiting and killing animals and selling their milk, eggs, and flesh to humans.<\/p>\n

\n\"Expectation<\/a>\n<\/figure>\n

The use of labels like \u201ccage-free,\u201d \u201cnatural,\u201d \u201corganic,\u201d and \u201clocal\u201d is humane washing<\/em>. These labels are simply marketing tools meant to attract a customer base that\u2019s increasingly horrified by the way animals used for food are exploited. Even the U.S. government knows that such labels don\u2019t necessarily mean better standards for animals. And animals raised on organic farms \u201cneed not be treated any more humanely than the animals in conventional farming<\/a>.”<\/p>\n
