The motion picture proves that computer-generated imagery, or CGI, has no limits, offering powerful anti-captivity, pro\u2013animal rights messages along the way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed aligncenter is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"video-player\"><div class=\"widescreen-wrapper\"><iframe title=\"War for the Planet of the Apes | Official Trailer [HD] | 20th Century FOX\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/JDcAlo8i2y8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2011, the visual effects team behind <a href=\"https:\/\/www.peta.org\/features\/rise-planet-apes\/\"><em>Rise of the Planet of the Apes<\/em><\/a> broke new ground, using CGI to create apes who delivered a dramatic performance of unprecedented emotion and intelligence\u2014no real apes were used during filming.&nbsp;Now, six years later, <em>War <\/em>is proving that the capabilities of CGI are only getting better and better. The movie demonstrates just how human-like these animals truly are\u2014they share our emotions, they mourn the loss of loved ones, they miss their children when separated from them, and they feel joy, resentment, sadness, and rage. When asked why the <em>Planet of the Apes<\/em> franchise has resonated with audiences for nearly 50 years, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailynews.com\/arts-and-entertainment\/20170711\/war-for-the-planet-of-the-apes-is-director-matt-reeves-emotional-story-of-refugees-and-destructive-conflict\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">director Matt Reeves said<\/a> that it comes down to &#8220;seeing human nature expressed in the faces of these animals. Chimpanzees and orangutans <a href=\"https:\/\/www.peta.org\/videos\/anjelica-huston-leave-great-apes-out-of-show-business\/\">used in entertainment<\/a> are typically taken from their mothers shortly after birth\u2014leaving both mother and baby with lifelong emotional scars. We expect that moviegoers will be as impressed as we are with the film&#8217;s visual effects and anti-captivity messaging, and we hope other producers follow suit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Tell Other Productions That Animals Aren\u2019t Actors<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>It seems that some productions didn\u2019t get the memo: FOX\u2019s <em>Animal Control<\/em> series starring Joel McHale shamelessly uses real animals as props and punchlines, making a mockery of the issues plaguing real animal control officers, who are swimming upstream in an ever-growing homeless-animal crisis.
