No painkillers are given to them to ease their suffering. The young pigs <strong>then spend their short lives in cramped, crowded pens<\/strong> on slabs of filthy concrete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When the time comes for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.peta.org\/issues\/animals-used-for-food\/animals-used-food-factsheets\/pigs-intelligent-animals-suffering-factory-farms-slaughterhouses\/\">slaughter<\/a>, pigs are <strong>forced onto transport trucks<\/strong> that often travel for many miles through all weather extremes. <strong>Many pigs die from heat exhaustion<\/strong> in the summer <strong>or arrive frozen<\/strong> to the inside of the truck in the winter.
