These devices are coated with an extremely strong adhesive that immobilizes anyone who steps on them, including mice, rats, birds, lizards, and other small animals who become stuck by their feet, fur, feathers, or even their faces.

Animals who get stuck in glue traps panic and struggle desperately to escape, sometimes breaking bones and attempting to chew off their own limbs before succumbing to starvation, dehydration, asphyxiation, or blood loss. Studies have shown that more than 85% of animals who are caught in glue traps suffer for more than 24 hours.

In addition to being extremely cruel, glue traps fail as a long-term rodent control solution because they do nothing to address the source of the problem: As long as food remains accessible, more animals will move in to take the place of those who have been killed. On the other hand, humane solutions for keeping out unwanted guests—like securely storing food, sealing entry points, and, if necessary, using non-lethal live traps—are more effective and don’t cause animals to suffer.

Respect Rodents!

Every animal is an individual who feels. Mice and rats are highly social animals who become attached to each other and love their families. Male mice and rats woo their mates with high-pitched love songs. Mice live in family groups, play together, and enjoy sleeping curled up with their social partners.

Glue traps have no place in the world, and thanks to kind consumers like you, the list of entities that have prohibited using and selling them is growing. Dozens of retailers—including Target, Dollar General, Dollar Tree, CVS, Walgreens, and many others—have banned the sale of glue traps after hearing from PETA. Culver City, West Hollywood, and Ojai, California, have all passed full citywide bans on the deadly devices. Will you help us make this message stick?

 1 of 4

<form action="#" name="PE ETT WLD 2019-4-22 Tell Discount Drug Mart to Ban Glue Traps! Trapped rodents and other small animals suffer immensely in the time it can take for them to die. The glue sticks to their skin, hair, or feathers, all of which can be torn off when the animals struggle to escape. Many animals even attempt to chew off their own limbs in an attempt to get free.

These devices are also dangerous for human health, because they can become breeding grounds for diseases. As such, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention advises against their use.

Many major retailers—including CVS, Dollar General, Rite Aid, and Walgreens—no longer sell glue traps. Please follow their lead and commit to ending the sale of glue traps at your stores.
