But in India\u2019s sugarcane industry, they are treated like machines: forced to work from dawn until after dark, and often pushed beyond their physical abilities and legal limits. They are beaten with sticks and whips, pierced with barbed wire spikes attached to their yokes, and restrained with nose ropes that tear and infect the nasal septa, causing agonizing pain. Many collapse from exhaustion\u2014some are worked to death and left where they fall.\n\nHumans in the industry face similar horrors. As the New York Times reported, workers who are reliant on bullock carts remain in poverty and face forced crushing debt, forced hysterectomies so that women do not miss days of work, and unsafe, inhumane living conditions.\n\nThere is a clear solution: eco-tractors. Unlike overloaded bullock carts that carry only a few tons, tractors can transport up to 18 tons at a time, benefiting both animals and workers.\n\nPlease commit to sourcing only bull-free sugar.
