Not such a long time ago, in a Galax<\/em>y far, far away, two keepers of the peace\u2014er, PETA fieldworkers<\/a>\u2014entered a hoarder\u2019s home in a small, rural district in southwestern Virginia. \u201cI have a bad feeling about this,\u201d they agreed. The hut, near Galax, Virginia, was full of small roaches and cats. The smell of cat urine was pungent. A local organization had alerted PETA to the property, where the main resident\u2019s compulsion to collect cat after cat supremely outshone her competence in caring for the animals\u2019 needs, including by providing veterinary care when they became sick. This was most abundantly clear in the case of one 4-month-old Siamese kitten: His gnarly upper respiratory infection (URI) had him looking more Jabba the Hutt than Grandmaster Yoda. Although the path to the Dark Side was paved and prominent, PETA fieldworkers chose light.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Feeling the Force, PETA convinced the hoarder to accept their help, including by whisking little Yoda\u2014as the kitten, with his remarkable ears and wisdom beyond his years, was quickly dubbed\u2014to safety. Fieldworkers scooped the mini kitty into their Community Animal Project<\/a> van-shaped Millennium Falcon faster than Han Solo could say, \u201cChewie, we\u2019re home.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Size matters not. Look at me. Judge me by my size, do you? Hmm? Hmm. And well you should not.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Once in PETA\u2019s custody, it became even more clear what a luminous being<\/em> young Yoda is. Despite feeling like the Dark Side warmed over, the small Siamese was quick to prove the feline force was with him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Call me cute and feed me treats, you must!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Yoda was promptly treated for the URI. And after spending time gaining strength and returning to the Light Side in a PETA staff member\u2019s foster home, the feline fella was neutered<\/a>, vaccinated, and given a clean bill of health by PETA\u2019s veterinary team<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At roughly 5 months old, this still-baby Yoda is keen to find his Jedi order, but one who understands he<\/em> is the Grandmaster, of course. In foster care, this small but mighty guy has gotten on well with his feline foster friends as well as with the tiny humans who also occupy the hut.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
