At under 6 months old, the timid puppy was being kept in squalor (his cage made Mama Fratelli\u2019s restaurant look like the Ritz!) in rural North Carolina, where local ordinances offer dogs little protection. Shortly thereafter, Mouth graced the cover of <a href=\"https:\/\/inthefield.peta.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/CAP-Qrtrly-Report-JUL-SEP2023_FIN300-hi-res.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">PETA\u2019s quarterly report<\/a>, his filthy pen on full display. Good thing PETA fieldworkers <em>never say die<\/em>\u2014we stopped by regularly to check in on Mouth and the other animals on the property, asking the animals\u2019 owner each time for the chance to find the deserving individuals homes worthy of a \u201cSave the Goon Docks\u201d protest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><a traps\u2014err, <em>booby<\/em> traps.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>PETA staff visited Mouth and visited Mouth \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><a One-Eyed Willie\u2019s <em>rich stuff<\/em>.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2026 and, realizing that not everyone is a Fratelli-worthy villain, the once-reserved beagle boy started coming out of and I ensured the sweet beagle had shade and flea medicine during the summer months, <a href=\"https:\/\/shop.peta.org\/bale-of-straw.html\">insulating straw<\/a> during North Carolina\u2019s harsh winters, and fresh water year-round.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><a wasn\u2019t the only one who came around to fieldworkers\u2019 charm. PETA\u2019s resident beagle-fanatic foster guardian whisked Mouth to her home for some much-needed TLC. Mouth is roughly 17 pounds and seems to prefer having a Mikey-, Data-, and\/or Chunk-worthy canine companion to adventure with.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Hey, You Guys!
