While a camel ride costs between 80 and 100 dirhams for tourists, PETA Asia\u2019s investigation exposes how the <strong>camels pay the ultimate price<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-vimeo wp-block-embed-vimeo wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"video-player\"><div class=\"widescreen-wrapper\"><iframe title=\"Investigation Reveals Why Camel Rides in Morocco Are Not Ethical\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/1105924492?dnt=1&amp;app_id=122963\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; fullscreen; picture-in-picture; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\"><\/iframe><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Where Are There Camel Rides in Morocco?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Ill-informed tourists may ride camels\u2014also marketed as treks, safaris, or tours\u2014in major cities like Marrakech, villages such as Merzouga, or remote desert camps in the Sahara. While a camel ride in Morocco can last anywhere between 15 minutes and several hours, <strong>ride operators force camels to haul vacationers in the sweltering heat <em>all day<\/em><\/strong><em>, <\/em>according to PETA Asia<em>.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PETA Asia\u2019s investigator also documented how camels suffer in between rides\u2014operators tie them up on ropes only a few feet long and leave them exposed to extreme heat and sandstorms without any protection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Is It Painful for Camels When You Ride Them?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Camel rides can be painful for camels who are exploited all day in the scorching sun. Worse, they\u2019re also beaten. PETA Asia\u2019s video shows one operator repeatedly beating a tied-up camel with a long stick as the animal struggled to avoid the blows. When free to roam in nature, they live in herds and talk to each other with sounds and body movements. As a sign of friendship, camels will sometimes blow on each other\u2019s faces. But in the tourist industry, these animals endure lifetimes of misery and suffering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-content-justification-center is-layout-flex
