George never expected to find himself in search of a new nation. The dashing 4-year-old Lhasa apso had a human who adored him. But when his guardian fell on hard times, lost her companion animal-friendly housing, and was no longer able to care for him, she was faced with the difficult decision to find him a new home. Luckily, she turned to the right people for help\u2014PETA jumped into action to launch this tiny revolutionary\u2019s adoption campaign.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

George has quickly won the loyalty of the denizens of his foster home, where he has proven to be a just and capable commander-in-chief, steering his pals to victory in the Battle of the Best Sticks Ever, the Siege of the Snack Drawer, and the Capture of Fort Couch-The-Human-Said-We-Weren\u2019t-Allowed-On. He gets along well with dogs and cats, though his thoughts on the British are yet to be determined.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No taxation without representation! Unless we\u2019re talking a treat tax\u2014in that case, pay up, you chumps.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Like the George of U.S. quarter and dollar bill fame, canine George hails from Virginia, and tends to look quite serious in his portraits\u2014but don\u2019t let that fool you, he has a great sense of humor, and is always down for a game of fetch. And much like the old tale of George Washington chopping down a cherry tree is a fun fabrication, any claims that canine George is a notorious sock-and-shoe thief are pure fantasy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No false teeth here, wood or otherwise! <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

George is ready to lead you bravely into battle\u2014or maybe just a walk around the block. (Walks can be very intense, OK? What if there are squirrels?) He\u2019s also fully housetrained and ready to be the early American history buff on your trivia team. (Or maybe just run cuteness distraction against your competitors.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He cannot tell a lie. He totally stole that tennis ball. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

George is eminently portable, weighing in at a petite 20 pounds, and is willing to travel anywhere on the East Coast for the perfect home. Even if it means crossing the Delaware.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
