Sometimes, a PETA rescue story kicks off with a dog on the brink of death, an undercover investigation, or law enforcement calling on our field team for help. But occasionally, it\u2019s a simple phone call\u2014like the one we received from an open-admission shelter in rural Virginia: A petite pup was left anonymously in the shelter\u2019s after-hours drop-off cage. The shelter\u2014being already overburdened and in an underserved community, and with nearly no foot traffic\u2014called on PETA for help, and we wasted no thyme<\/em> responding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PETA\u2019s helping to ensure Rosemary\u2019s next home and family are the real dill<\/em>.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Back at PETA\u2019s shelter, after a roughly 4-hour road trip, Rosemary\u2014as the shy but fun-loving girl was later named\u2014was quick to show off her personality: Sweet with a side of spice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once at PETA, it was Rosemary\u2019s thyme<\/em> to shine!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Rosemary is roughly 3 years old and 17 lbs. She\u2019s spayed \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No babies for this Rosemary!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

…and vaccinated. Her foster guardian\u2014a PETA fieldworker\u2014and her family report that Rosemary is indeed the spice of life! The sweet-natured girl is great with kids and loves other dogs, and she\u2019s studiously working on adding \u201cpotties outside\u201d to her list of talents. She loves a good walk, stopping to smell the roses, and curling up next to her humans for some Zen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
